While visiting Katherine MacGregor for her birthday in January 2013, I gave her this tiny model of the mercantile. The scale is “N”, frequently used for model railroading. As the building is so small, I was able to add some scenery around, re-creating a tiny part of Walnut Grove. The dog is here to remind Katherine of the days when she used to bring her own dog, Beau Bruce, on the set in Simi Valley. When Katherine passed away in 2017, this miniature was returned to me, and I kept it until March 2024, when I had the opportunity to give it to Jonathan Gilbert (“Willie Oleson”). He seemed to be touched by the fact that this little model had been Katherine’s for a few years, and was now his.

Profitant d’une visite à Katherine MacGregor pour son anniversaire en Janvier 2013, je lui ai offert cette minuscule maquette du magasin. L’échelle est “N”, fréquemment utilisée en modélisme ferroviaire. Le bâtiment étant très petit,  j’ai pu ajouter un peu de décor autour, évoquant une petite partie de “Walnut Grove”. Le chien est destiné à rappeler à Katherine les moments où son propre chien, Beau Bruce, l’accompagnait sur le lieu du tournage à Simi Valley. Quand Katherine est décédée en 2017, cette maquette m’a été remise et je l’ai gardée jusqu’en Mars 2024, quand j’ai eu l’opportunité de l’offrir à Jonathan Gilbert (“Willie Oleson”). Il a semblé touché par le fait que cette miniature ait appartenu à Katherine pendant quelques années, avant d’être à lui.
